Luigi is the deuteragonist of the Mario franchise. He made his first appearance in the 1983 arcade game Mario Bros. as a supporting character to his brother Mario. Luigi is often depicted as taller and thinner than Mario, wearing a green shirt and blue overalls. Though Luigi started as a sidekick, he gained widespread popularity and eventually became a major character in his own right. He has appeared in numerous games across various Nintendo platforms, including the Super Mario series, Luigi's Mansion series, Mario Kart series, and others. Luigi is often portrayed as the more timid and cautious brother compared to Mario's braver and more outgoing personality. He is known for his distinctive traits, such as his iconic mustache, green cap with an "L" emblem, and his signature jump, the "Luigi Leap".
