The City Tripper is a scooter that debuted in the Animal Crossing × Mario Kart 8 downloadable pack of Mario Kart 8. It is the signature bike for both Isabelle and Female Villager, both of whom were introduced as playable drivers in the same downloadable pack. Isabelle's City Tripper, which is light green in color, has since made a few appearances in Animal Crossing games as a furniture item, and has the self-explanatory title Isabelle Scooter. As such, the City Tripper exists within both the Mario Kart series and the Animal Crossing franchise.
History[edit]
Animal Crossing franchise[edit]
Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo[edit]
In Animal Crossing: New Leaf - Welcome amiibo, the Isabelle Scooter is a furniture item that can be obtained by scanning an Isabelle amiibo, then visiting Isabelle's RV in Harvey's campsite, and ordering it from her catalog. The next day, the item is delivered to the Player's mailbox. The Isabelle Scooter can be sold for 3,000 bells.
Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp[edit]
Isabelle Scooter returns as a furniture item in Animal Crossing: Pocket Camp. There is a two percent chance that the player can obtain the Isabelle Scooter from buying one of Tommy's Fortune Cookies for 5000 bells.
Super Smash Bros. Ultimate[edit]
The City Tripper appears in Super Smash Bros. Ultimate as a spirit in the World of Light campaign, where it can only be obtained from Funky Kong's Shack, and costs 4,000 Spirit Points at regular price. The spirit depicts the City Tripper from Mario Kart 8, specifically the light-green one commonly associated with Isabelle, although it is not associated with her nor the Animal Crossing franchise.
The spirit can be combined with a Mach Rider, Excitebike and a red-type core to summon the Master Cycle spirit.
Physical appearance[edit]
The City Tripper resembles a classic Vespa and features the recognizable "pop tart" insignia pattern as dubbed by fans. The same pattern can be seen in various promotional material for Animal Crossing: New Leaf as well as the backs of the first four series of the Animal Crossing amiibo cards. The patterns was also used for a special edition Animal Crossing Nintendo 3DS XL.
The wheels and glider are interchangeable with many parts in Mario Kart 8 and Mario Kart 8 Deluxe, but the signature loadout of the City Tripper features the Leaf Wheels and Paper Glider. The insignia on the front of the scooter also changes depending on the character using it. It remains as Isabelle's apple insignia in the Animal Crossing franchise.
