Clapper (クラッパー, Kurappā, Clapper) is a seal and an Animal Friend from the Donkey Kong franchise. He first appears in Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and also returns in Donkey Kong Land 2. Aside from these two appearances, Clapper makes a cameo in the Freestyle Mode of Donkey Konga 2.

History

Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest

In both Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest and Donkey Kong Land 2, Clapper only appears in two levels, Lava Lagoon and his titular location Clapper's Cavern. In both appearances, Clapper's role is to cool the water so Diddy Kong and Dixie Kong can progress, although the temperature of the liquid that he cools differs between both levels. If either Kong jumps onto Clapper, he exhales cool air on to the water and then claps his paws. The effect of Clapper's cool air is temporary, and it wears off after several seconds.

In Lava Lagoon, Diddy and Dixie have to jump on a Clapper throughout so that he can cool the red-hot water into a moderate temperature. In Clapper's Cavern, while the water is at moderate temperature, there is a Lockjaw who follows Diddy and Dixie around, making it hazardous for them to swim in the water, although in Donkey Kong Land 2, the water is frigid enough to damage Diddy and Dixie, so either Kong must jump onto a Clapper to have it cool the water.

Donkey Konga 2

In Donkey Konga 2, Clapper is one of several characters to make a cameo appearance in Freestyle Mode, in which its Donkey Kong Country 2: Diddy's Kong Quest artwork is briefly displayed at certain parts when the player plays the DK Bongos.
