Monster is a red car featured in Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally. It is one of the three usable vehicles, the other two being Kattobi and Yonque. It is the most prominent of the three, as the game cover shows artwork of Mario and Luigi driving Monster.

Monster has two big wheels like those of a monster truck. At the front of Monster, just above its front window, is a banner that reads "Mario & Luigi," and the front also has a light blue Nintendo logo in the center, between Monster's two front lights. Monster has the number 7 shown at the front and on its sides.

Since its debut, Monster has since made a few cameo appearances in the Super Smash Bros. series. The Tiny Titan kart in Mario Kart Wii is designed after Monster, and Mario Kart 7 introduced tires of the same name that are possibly based on Monster's tires.

History

Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally

In Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally, the goal is to drive Monster or another vehicle along a road to the other end within a certain time. There are a number of checkpoints along the road that Monster has to pass in a set time, otherwise a timer starts to decrease. If the timer reaches zero before Monster passes the checkpoint, the game ends. Between checkpoints, the timer only stops, but it does not reset. Like the other vehicles, Monster has a set amount of health, which decreases if Monster crashes with the other cars on the road or the objects on its sides. At any time the driver can leave Monster to repair it, although doing so costs them time.

Monster has highest off-road stat of the three cars, especially on sand and dirt terrain. It has a top speed at 180km/h, which is lower than both Kattobi and Yongue.

Super Mario Bros. & Friends: When I Grow Up

The Monster makes a cameo on the "Race Car Driver / Mechanic" page in Super Mario Bros. & Friends: When I Grow Up. It is shown with Mario and Luigi driving it towards a Rocky Wrench.

Super Smash Bros. series

The Monster is featured as a trophy in Super Smash Bros. Melee, which can be obtained in the Lottery or when it appears in one of the game's single-player modes.

In Super Smash Bros. Brawl, the Monster appears as a sticker. In Adventure Mode: The Subspace Emissary, the sticker can be used on any fighter to raise their launch resistance by four points.

In Super Smash Bros. Ultimate, it appears as a Novice-class support spirit. When used on a fighter, it occupies one support slot and makes stopping easier when walking or running during a battle. The spirit's puppet fighters are Roy, Wendy, Iggy and Morton, all giant, on the Mushroomy Kingdom stage.
