Head Thwomp has four faces (an evil grinning blue, a grumpy purple, an angry green, and a surprised red), which it rotates through rapidly. When a bomb is thrown in its open head, it will spin furiously and land on the same face as when the bomb landed in it. It will then perform a function specific to that face: the blue one will shoot rotating energy balls that orbit in wider circles until they leave the screen, the purple one will smash into the ground, the green one spits [[Lava Bubble|Podoboo]]s across the stage, and the red one will cause damage to itself.
