Inside the Deku Tree is the first dungeon in The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time and its Nintendo 3DS remake, The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 3D. It serves as a tutorial dungeon because it familiarizes Link with the puzzle and combat mechanics. As stated by the name, the entire dungeon takes place within the Great Deku Tree.

Link enters the dungeon to try and dispel the curse that Ganondorf inflicted upon the Great Deku Tree when he refused to give Ganondorf the Kokiri Emerald. The main dungeon item is the Fairy Slingshot. With it, Link can shoot enemies and targets from a distance. As with any other dungeon, Inside the Deku Tree has a Dungeon Map and a Compass for Link to acquire.

The boss of Inside the Deku Tree is Queen Gohma, who is the source of the Great Deku Tree's illness. She attacks by rearing up on her tail and attempting to stomp Link and occasionally climbs on the ceiling to lay eggs from which Gohma Larvae hatch. Queen Gohma's eye is her weak point. To attack it, Link must shoot at it using his Fairy Slingshot and then slash at it with his sword. After defeating Queen Gohma, Link obtains a Heart Container and exits the dungeon.

Despite his efforts, Link failed to save the Great Deku Tree, though he entrusts Link with the Kokiri Emerald right before passing away.
