Rumble Pak
The Rumble Pak is an accessory for the Nintendo 64. It requires two Triple-A batteries and is inserted into the controller's memory slot. It cannot be used with the Controller Pak, although this rarely affects gameplay because Nintendo 64 cartridges are capable of storing saved data. While the Rumble Pak is inserted, the Nintendo 64 Controller vibrates while performing certain actions. Since its release, most subsequent game consoles, from Nintendo and competitors alike, would have controllers with built-in rumble support.
Star Fox 64 is the first game to support the Rumble Pak, which had a large role in the game's marketing, such as in its promotional VHS of the same name. Earlier copies of Star Fox 64 were bundled with the Rumble Pak, which became a separate purchase two months later. Rumble Pak support soon became a standard for Nintendo 64 games, and launch titles Wave Race 64 and Super Mario 64 were re-released in Japan in July 1997 with Rumble Pak support.
A separate rumble accessory was released for the Nintendo DS, the Nintendo DS Rumble Pak.
