Wuhu Island is a large, tropical, tourist-filled island inhabited by Miis from the Wii series. Wuhu Island makes its first appearance in Wii Fit, in which it was originally named Wiifity Island. The "Wuhu" part of the island's name is a pun on the interjection, "woo hoo." Wuhu Island has made appearances in other franchises, including Pilotwings and Mario, as well as the crossover series Super Smash Bros..

History

Mario Kart series

Mario Kart 7 has two tracks the player rides on Wuhu. The tracks include Wuhu Loop (Wuhu Island Loop in British English releases), which has the drivers race around the entire island and Maka Wuhu (Wuhu Mountain Loop in British English releases), which has the drivers race around and inside Maka Wuhu, the volcano on the island. A Battle Stage, Wuhu Town, is also present, which allows the drivers to battle all around the town area of the island. However, it is not possible to drive over to the separate tiny village known as New Town. The Island Loop track takes place in the day, and Maka Wuhu takes place in the evening, while Wuhu Town takes place at night.

As of Mario Kart Tour, both race tracks, Wuhu Loop and Maka Wuhu, are the only courses from Mario Kart 7 to not appear as classic courses in a future installment.

Wuhu Town returns in Mario Kart 8 Deluxe as a retro battle stage. It now takes place in the day time.

Super Smash Bros. series

Wuhu Island appears as both a stage in of itself and as part of the Pilotwings stage in Super Smash Bros. for Wii U and Super Smash Bros. Ultimate. There is a trophy of Wuhu Island that can be obtained by purchasing it from the Trophy Shop.

The Wuhu Island stage itself is a touring stage similar to Delfino Plaza in Super Smash Bros. Brawl, and is specifically based on Wii Sports Resort. The platform where players fight that travels around the island often stops at various locations on the island such as the starting line of the power-cruising race course, the summit of Maka Wuhu, the fountain in Wuhu Town, the suspension bridge, the sword-fighting arena, a set of rocks out in the ocean, Talon Rock on the mountain, the beach, or a moving boat.

In the Pilotwings stage, the yellow biplane on which the second part of the battle takes place flies around Wuhu Island. Rings from Pilotwings Resort (of which the setting is also Wuhu Island) are scattered all over the island, through which the plane flies before returning to the original Pilotwings area.

In Ultimate, its My Music library is now shared with Summit, Duck Hunt, Hanenbow, PictoChat 2, Living Room, Balloon Fight, Tomodachi Life, Find Mii, Wrecking Crew, and Pilotwings.

Overview

Wuhu Island

This island, although relatively small, has a lot of features, both natural and man-made, to suite many sporting activities. Wuhu Island can only be reached by ferry or sea plane, the latter being quite inconvenient considering Wuhu is found in the middle of the Pacific. The first thing you come across in Wuhu is their mini harbour and main town, which currently has no name. The harbour has a few wooden piers for docking speed boats and yachts, and a larger concrete higher pier for a ferry or cruise liner to dock with. Currently, the Queen Peach (a largish cruise liner which is described as being a 5-star one) uses this docking pier. Walking further inside you come across the main town. There are a few residential and commercial buildings, together with a chapel, a basket ball court, a bowling alley and two or three manors. The town also has a square with a fountain, arch and a few benches occupying it. As seen in Wii Fit Plus, parades take place over here. On the outskirts of the town is a jogging plaza where joggers and also their pet dogs or cats meet for a lap around the island. This plaza is basically a small hexagonally shaped area made of concrete with grass on top. Moving to the right on the town, one can find the Red Gate Bridge. This is a mini red cable-stayed bridge which connects a river for automobiles and people to crossover. Moving up one finds an alley known as Palm Tree Avenue. It is basically a pathway with palm trees surrounding it. This alley leads up to the islands main hotel known as Seaside Hotel. This is a 5-star hotel with a pool, two tennis courts and table tennis tables. The hotel sits outside the islands three beaches. Technically speaking it is one whole beach split into three.

Wuhu Town

Wuhu Town is the major settlement on the island, and is home to 20 or more office and residential buildings, a bowling alley, and a basketball court.

The town has a main square with a fountain, and two main roads leading out of the town. There is also a tall building on a grassy elevated area. The pier is where a boat normally docks, and is inaccessible.

Wild and Plant Life

Most of the plant life include trees, especially palm trees. The animals are mostly birds, such as owls and ducks. There are also fish and whales. On certain games, however, coyote howls can be heard in the ruins area, implying they live there too. There are also dogs and cats kept as pets but presumably not naturally occurring on the island.
