Final Fantasy VI Advance is a Game Boy Advance video game that serves as a remake of Final Fantasy VI. It was first released in Japan in 2006 and then in North America, Europe, and Australia in 2007. The game was ported by TOSE and published by Square Enix in Japan and by Nintendo in other countries. Final Fantasy VI Advance is the last game that Nintendo published for the Game Boy Advance. It was later ported to the Wii U Virtual Console in 2015, exclusively in Japan.
Unlike the earlier Final Fantasy remakes−Final Fantasy I & II: Dawn of Souls, Final Fantasy IV Advance, and Final Fantasy V Advance−Final Fantasy VI Advance did not receive its own Nintendo Player's Guide, likely because it was released at the very end of the Game Boy Advance's lifespan.
Changes[edit]
- The game adds two dungeons, the Dragons' Den and the Soul Shrine. The Kaiser Dragon, who originally went unused in the original Super Nintendo version, is fought in the Dragons' Den.
- Each character has their own set of items.
- The game includes a Bestiary and a Music Room consisting of a remade soundtrack. The Music Room is unlocked by clearing the game.
- The script was made similar to the Japanese text. One example is the game's currency was called GP in the American SNES version, but was renamed to gil in the Game Boy Advance remake).
- Four Espers have been added: Leviathan, Gilgamesh, Cactuar, and Diabolos.
