Monty Mole Swooper
First appearance Super Mario-kun (volume 5) (1992)
Variant of Monty Mole, Swooper

Monty Mole Swoopers are Monty Moles fused with Swoopers that appear in volume 5 of Super Mario-kun. They mostly look like Monty Moles, but their arms are replaced with the wings of the Swoopers. Their design when eating the mushroom gives them a mushroom on their head, but their belly pattern and the claws on their feet are removed.

The Monty Mole Swoopers, after stealing Mario's mushroom form

After Luigi knocks Mario into the Monty Moles, the Monty Moles call in a group of Swoopers to fuse with them. They quickly suck out Mario's mushroom form, which he took on for the majority of the chapter, reverting him to his usual form. They then give the Monty Mole Swoopers the powers of the mushroom instead. They then call in Butametto and Ushimetto to ram into Mario, Luigi and Yoshi. Mario then sees a Rotating Block and hits it, only to be disappointed that it contained a single coin. He quickly realizes that the Monty Mole Swoopers hate the light that the coin emits, so Mario and his friends gather a number of coins to defeat the Monty Mole Swoopers. The Monty Mole Swoopers are backed into a corner before they forfeit the battle. They then tell Mario where the pipe to Bowser's Castle is. Mario and his friends take the pipe, thanking the Monty Mole Swoopers, although the pipe lead to a pool of lava.
